No beginning piper should be without these improved Ash Plugs, and even more advanced players may want to keep them as part of their regular set up. Hemp them to be not too tight at first, to quickly and easily pop them in and out to test the effect of using them or not. The thumb screws are so easy to adjust, simply unzip the bag and you can tweak the screw setting and be playing again in under 30 seconds. Surprisingly effective, and for me, an instant improvement on controlling strike-ins and cut-offs. , July 19th, 2012 01:37 pm By: Andrew Stewart(Piper 4) Read my other reviews
I was given these by my Pipe Major. They are mor economical than other products out there and do what they are supposed to do. essential, May 23rd, 2012 01:31 pm By: Ryan Moore

I found they really help with cutoffs, as well as starting in, much easier to strike in as all the air stays in the bag till you hit it. Not a fan of drone plugs, October 30th, 2008 09:39 pm By: Patrick McLaurin(Piper ) Read my other reviews
I'm not a fan of drone plugs and when I did play them, I had harder times starting as you have to overcome the pressure needed to open the flap before air gets to your drone reeds. Same reason it helps with stops. The product is worth 4/5 for quality but it gets 2/5 cause not really helpful all around. , October 5th, 2008 12:39 am By: Shawn Husk
I tried these. They do work well to stop your drones from trailing off if you let off too soon but they do cut down on your drone volume quite a bit, especially your bass. For that reason you have to set up your pipes louder to compensate. Well made and durable however.
