Plug into the bottom of your drones.
These will help your pipes to tune lower on the tuning pins.
Good for pipes that tend to tune very high, or for those that want to play with a Bb or Concert A chanter.
Good idea but no panacea, April 1st, 2011 11:14 am By: Peter Hraber
I tried using one of these on a new bass reed that was tuning really sharp. Unfortunately, it didn't quite solve the problem, even with abundant hemp in the mix. Regardless, I was glad to have these available as a problem-solving option. You will definitely want to use sticky black wax to ensure they don't fall into the bag. Waxed linen isn't sufficiently adherent. , September 20th, 2010 08:28 am By: Blair Campbell(Piper ) Read my other reviews
Newer pipes tune at an increasingly higher pitch, but our band still tunes around 466-468. Drone extenders were required on my new pipes to keep the drones from falling off the end when adjusting. Even if you don’t need drone extenders right now, you might want to keep a set for tuning down to play with another band, or in a mass band situation. This is a great product for those with vintage pipes that typically tune very high on the pins. As stated above It's very important to get a good tight seal. , October 7th, 2008 08:46 pm By: Shawn Husk
These work well but make sure you get a very good hemp seal when you plug your drones into them or you will have issues with your reeds. Excellent idea!
