Mouthblown Smallpipe in the Key of A or D. Made entirely from plastic for minimal maintenance. The drone reeds are synthetic and are “built into” the bottom of each drone. This ensures that they will never fall into the bag. The chanter reed is also synthetic so it resists the effects of moisture from your breath. Bag cover available in black, navy, green, and burgandy.
The D chanter is similar in size to the childs practice chanter.
The A/D Combo set comes with 2 separate chanters. The combination drone works as a D bass drone and an A baritone drone.

While maybe not to the same standards as a custom setup from a small maker, these pipes are a real instrument that hold their own. I love the fact that I can toss these in a suitcase to go with me anyplace and I don't have to worry. I love sitting on my porch on a nice summer evening playing. The chanter is a bit "practice chanter" in sound but true of scale. My drone reeds did need a bit of fiddling when first purchased despite the warnings to leave them alone. The A tenor just would not tune without some reed work. Since then, not a problem. Family Favorite, February 12th, 2013 07:19 pm By: Adam Carriere(Piper 3) Read my other reviews
I can't always bring my GHBs around to indoor family events but these smallpipes are a fam favorite! Great sound! Pressure sensitive at times, but otherwise a great buy! decent set, February 28th, 2012 01:36 pm By: Patrick McLaurin(Piper ) Read my other reviews
D pipes have a very bright tone. Chanter reeds don't last very long and become VERY pressure sensitive. But with a new reed every couple months you're set to go. Otherwise, trouble free. Hassle free, reliable, pleasant sound, April 28th, 2010 03:08 pm By: Nick Wemyss(Piper ) Read my other reviews
The Walsh smallpipes are a great way to enjoy learning tune fingering, breath control and inside entertainment where even the off notes don\'t sound all that bad. The super simple plastic chanter and drone reeds require almost no tuning, are relatively unaffected by heat and humidity, and produce a sweet pipe sound. They take a surprisingly large amount of blowing to initially fill that bag, like a GHB, but once going require very little air providing a more relaxing and longer practice than the GHBs. Striking in and cutting off is a bit trickier with a tendency to squeak as the bag is huge relative to the air used. Plan ahead! The lack of full moisture removal means that who knows what is growing in that bag. Personally I take everything apart to dry it as best as possible since the bag doesn\'t open. I also tape off the middle tenor drone as I find the combination of the alto and bass a crisper sound and less air is required. I prefer this sound to the shuttle pipes which I find a bit kazoo-like, but listen to sound files here or at Walsh\'s website. Great instrument to play with a bodhran, whistle, guitar, violin or voice as the balance (maybe not the key though) is appropriate. These are a joy to play. Sometimes I have to force myself to play my GHB instead of my smallpipes. Also, when I was trying to decide what key, or to go to shuttle pipes, Rob gave me great advice.
